Canon: Change or be left behind

Change is something that the majority of Australian executives and office workers strive for yet find difficult to achieve, according to two new research studies from Canon looking at the attitudes of business executives and office workers to change. Executive respondents ranked Australian companies fourth on the global stage behind developing nations such as China and India when it comes to embracing change, suggesting there's scope for improvement. The number one barrier to change was people, citing the fear of the unknown, a lack of trust in change, lack of vision or understanding about change internally and lack of direction or leadership from senior management. This highlights a skills gap in the leadership qualities required for managing the change process with more attention and resources required, in order for change management to be implemented successfully within Australian firms.
